Immortality: Tales of the Undead- Among the Undead

Old Man Jacobs had been searching for food, ever since the vampire apocalypse started. To begin with, he never thought of wanting to kill someone, just so he could eat. He stood out there in the open, and ready to fire at anyone who gets in his way. Being an ex-marine and all, have taught him everything. So, he wasn't afraid to kill a number of vampires along the way. In fact, he was too old enough to shoot their foreheads with a wooden bullet. At 65 years old, he was on the verge of dying from cancer, which have brought his life, upside down. But the vampires terrified him. He could hear their screams from the outside world, whenever he tried to sleep.

He could also hear his son screaming...

Yes, Old Man Jacobs had a son alright. But he was long gone. He even tried to help the old man out. But it wasn't enough. At the time, the food ran out of shortage, and both father and son were too desperate that they had to go to various stores, and find as much food as they could. And those damn things kept coming after them. It even got his son! Eventually, Old Man Jacobs was already tired of killing. He had endured long pain and suffering throughout his life, especially when he found out that his wife had left for another man. But his son was still there. He was only 20 years old, when he came back from college and heard the bad news.

Now, people were long gone since the vampire crisis started. Either they were dead, or had been turned into those damned things. And it looked like Jacobs and his son were entirely left alone in the world. They sometimes laughed and cried... Those were the good times. Jacobs could still see the smile on his son's face.

But the fact remained clear that his son was still dead. There was a banging on the door after he came back from the abandoned supermarket. THUD! THUD! THUD! He closed his eyes, and tried to think of something else.

Jacobs thought, How did this happen? Did he even know how this vampire crisis started? Did he want to know at all? Not likely. But he figured that it was something to think about. Later on, he would have to stay alive, hoping that someone was still out there, waiting to get him. So far, there had been none.

THUD! THUD! THUD! Jacobs cried out, "Will you stop that?!" The banging stopped. Jacobs sighed and shook his head. His nightmares were already started. But the point was that being an ex-marine have brought him painful memories. He had to kill those damn terrorists all day long. And this wasn't any different of what he was doing now. The only difference was...

These people were monsters, looking out for blood. As if there was no life in them. And the thought of his son...

THUD! THUD! THUD! Jacobs looked at the locked room, and shouted again. "JUST SHUT THE F**K UP!" The banging stopped again. He began to sweat, knowing that there wasn't any time left. He even laughed at the thought of it. Time didn't mean anything to him at all. The time that he had found out about his cancer, eating his body away like a rotten corpse.

Like those things out there. Jacobs sighed and came out of the house. He shot several of those damned things, over and over again. There were still more of them, wherever they came from.

$h!t! Jacobs noticed that he ran out of ammo. He went back inside the house, and quickly locked the door. He went upstairs, and then brought the ladder down from the attic. Usually, he kept his medals and weapons in a safe box if his son had found out about it. Besides, his wife had warned about those things.

Going out in the open seas, Jacobs felt like he was back in the war. He could still hear those firing sounds, and whatnot. He could also hear the sounds of the crying victims. And when the memories stopped, he found himself back in the attic.

Jesus Christ! Jacobs shook his head, and stared at the box. Then he opened it.

The door banged again. THUD! THUD! THUD! Jacobs wished the banging could stop. Even when he tried to sleep last night, he wished that this nightmare would end. But it won't. Not like this...

He reloaded his shot gun, and went back downstairs. A vampire tried to get inside the house by smashing through the kitchen window. Jacobs hit the arm, and the creature cried out painfully. He hit it again. The vampire left.

Damn these things... If there was one thing he had learned from his war experience was that he never gave up. He had been injured several times during the mission, but still managed to kill his enemies. But these things...

They just keep coming... Jacobs went outside and fired. Most of the vampires went down.

I'm getting too old for this $h!t. That banging again... THUD! THUD! THUD! The old man fired again, and then stopped. He closed the door. Locking it tightly, he hoped that the vampires couldn't come through, despite the wild theories of invitation. He stared at the clock. It was getting late.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

After hearing that sound again, he rushed towards the room and unlocked the door.

The vampire snarled at him. Using the shotgun, Jacobs hit it on the head. Then he stared angrily. "You shouldn't have left me, you b!*ch!"

He aimed at her forehead and then fired. Blood splattered on his face. He tried to look away from it, but couldn't.

THUD! THUD! THUD! There was another bang on the door and this time...

Here we go... Jacobs sighed and left his bedroom.

Next story- Blood and Spice.
