Poll 2023 is now officially the year when Disney's 8-year reign over the worldwide box office (which began in 2015) ended. (15 votes)
You may have noticed that Disney had consecutively reigned supreme at the box office for quite a number of years (except 2020 when COVID pretty much put cinema on break). Disney had boasted the highest-grossing film of every year since 2015:
2015: The Force Awakens
2016: Captain America: Civil War
2017: The Last Jedi
2018: Avengers: Infinity War
2019: Avengers: Endgame
2020: (hardly any films were released, so this year should be omitted)
2021: Spider-Man: No Way Home
2022: Avatar: The Way of Water
It was getting ridiculous just how commercially unrivaled Disney seemed to be, considering half of their releases were very lacking in substance and only capitalized on dopamine hits for unthinking consumers who only consume what they're used to.
BUT THAT ENDED THIS YEAR - 2023 is now officially the year when Disney's lack of creative output finally caught up to them and man, did they lose CATASTROPHICALLY this year. Pretty much every Disney release outside of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 have performed either just poorly at the box office or disastrously this year. The damage to Disney's reputation (mostly done by themselves) will cost them even more in many years to come.
This not a real poll, this is just for anyone who wants to laugh with me at Disney and their shills. I'm all for witnessing Disney's downfall within the next few years.
