Official: GoW Thor's Mjolnir is basically a nuclear bomb

Thor never unleashed any explosion even nearing that of the Fat Boy warhead in the game, so it's incredible and pretty awesome that his hammer is compared to an atom bomb. I can just imagine him smashing down on giants, leveling forests and mountains as he drove them to near extinction.

Exactly! and thats what happened, the change in power that was caused by the nuclear bomb that allowed america and later the soviets to be capable of wiping any country's population out, was in turn caused by the Mjolnir and Thor, as thats the very thing Cory mentions after mentioning Mjolnir, the balance of power was completely changed (and that Mjolnir works nothing like a nuclear bomb, no explosions, no radiations, just channels lightning which Thor was the god of without mjolnir e.t.c.)

Actually, ignoring the joke, he can actually easily tank the nuclear bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, as evident by the novels.

Of course given the countless showings we have from top tier characters in the saga, it should be obvious that Thor, who is repeatedly referred to as the strongest god in his pantheon, is above 'atomic bomb' level. Even the most simplistic simian should be able to discern that this isn't referring to how much power Thor with Mjolnir can output, but merely the 'upsetting of the balance' as Cory refers to it in this creation of a superweapon. Much like the Nuclear bomb marked a technological advancement that gave a massive advantage to those who possessed it, so too did the 'superweapon' Mjolnir's creation give the Aesir a position of power, as is stressed upon countless times in GOW 2018's lore.
