Poll Which comic book writer do you prefer: Grant Morrison or Jonathan Hickman? (19 votes)

Morrison 68%
Hickman 32%

Hickman for me, I just enjoy his stories more.

Morrison's stuff are weird. Outside of All-Star Superman, JLA: Earth 2, Batman and Son and Arkham Asylum, I didn't really enjoy anything he's written.

Morrison. He puts more emotion to his grand storytelling. And he has mostly been consistently except for New 52 stories. Whereas Hickman has lot of better highs but his lows are subpar too by his standards. Also his new books are a bit pale and repetitive like Ultimates.

Have you tried Morrison's Animal Man?

@saiyan_ross: Oh no, I've not read many works from young Morrison except JLA. Been meaning to read Doom Patrol but never got around to it.

@ghostodoofus2: Read Animal Man first. It has more lighter(yet innovative) concepts for Morrison's standards. But it still delivers great number of story bits and emotion. There are some cool villains too like Mirror Master, Psycho Pirate. Also B Wanna Beast. All are good.

Morrison. They're a lot more versatile and as much as I like Hickman, his dialogue can sometimes be a drag.

That's fine. You can just check his run from wikipedia, it had heaps of praises for it's use of themes. Ngl

Morrison by a mile, his Animal Man run alone is better than the majority of Hickman's works.

This.

G.O.D.S is a perfect example of Hickman's dialogues boring the hell out of people.

I’ve loved Morrison’s work on Batman, and the Animal Man stuff I read was wild. All-Star Superman speaks for itself.

What has Hickman written? I know the name but I’m pretty sure I’m not familiar with his work.

Tbf to Hickman he is still the forerunner of Marvel Comics otherwise he wouldnt be getting such opportunities and freedom like making a comic book on a Constantine esque character. Morrison on the other hand has been on hiatus for a long time since Green Lantern. I guess Hickman's ideas are still worthy of intriguing the audience. No wonder everyone is hyped for his Ultimate Spider-Man.

Eh, last I heard, Morrison is retired from writing comic books and is focusing on being a novelist now. They even have a book released now called "Luda".

@a_fine_edition: Hickman is most known for his runs on Fantastic Four and Avengers/New Avengers, it's recommended to read those two runs as they make up one long narrative that culminated into Secret Wars.
