Black Panther review
Despite MBJ playing himself again, wonky CGI in places, and not so great fight choreography: this was a fine movie. I wasn't blown away but it was satisfactory, for sure. The impact it's having made me rate it higher than just the content of the movie itself. It's not quite a 4, but the situation on the ground during its run is certainly worth half a star to get it to 4. It singlehandedly crushes the argument that a 'Black' movie can't sell. I realize that Disney ultimately is responsible for making the whole MCU, but they let Black people write and portray ourselves and it went over very well. We'll see a change in the types of movies that Hollywood is willing to take a chance on. Back to the nuts and bolts of the movie: VERY compelling philosophical questions. Great dialogue and acting. Furthers the Avengers storyline very well. Looks good for the most part. I didn't think the CGI and action were on par with other Marvel movies. They have to have had the resources, I think the director just wasn't great at that part of moviemaking yet. Seems like he couldn't tell if it was up to snuff or not.
