Agree or disagree with the above statement.
Responsibility for your actions? Of course.
Responsibility for things beyond your control? Not so much.
Depends...not everyone is capable of the same responsibility. If someone is severely mentally and physically disabled they still deserve equal rights despite not being able to contribute in certain ways.
@amonfire1776: You seem to be referring to basic human rights like free speech and security. Those should be a given. I'm referring to greater rights and power.
I think that equality is a worthless pursuit. you can't give a substantial amount of opportunities to diversity-people without taking a substantial amount of opportunities away from the regular people from the core collective. there's only so much to go around and the core collective of any society must be put first, that is what is moral and responsible. anything other than that is irresponsible and could even be considered treachery.
I just say pull your own weight, unless you have mental/physical complications
Yes also equal responsibility/accountability unless like stated above about complications
@iknowwhoyouare: what does that mean? Give some examples...
Agree...
Also @lunacyde@god_spawn: Can one of you lock this..?
The framing of this question is silly.
How so?
@iknowwhoyouare: You give two cartoonishly simple options on opposite ends of the spectrum to deal with a complex and nuanced question.
But hey, that's par for the course.
@lunacyde: What is so complex about the statement?
Should a disabled man be allowed to drive a bus full of passengers?
Responsibility for your actions? Of course.
Responsibility for things beyond your control? Not so much.
Not necessarily but in some case it applies. You don’t have the rights to take from others because you want more privileges in your life, example being you steal a car from your neighbour because you are jobless and don’t have enough money to buy one yourself but want to drive. That is forbidden, because you need to work and earn enough cash to buy the car. However if you are talking about the basic rights everyone is supposed to have from freedom of religions, life, expression, identity and the ability to choose your lover then you can’t apply the same principles. These rights do not require any responsibility and shouldn’t be forced on or taken away from anyone.
