Aquaman is a contemporary reinterpretation of DC Comics' Aquaman mythology from the acclaimed writing/producing team of Alfred Gough & Miles Millar ("Smallville"). Self-assured dive shop owner Arthur "A.C." Curry begins to grasp his amazing destiny as he perfects his abilities with a time-hardened lighthouse keeper. A.C. knows that he must risk everything to protect the world's vast oceans, even if it brings him into conflict with alluring Navy pilot Rachel Torres. As he trains with his haunted mentor and relies on his close confidant Eva, A.C. grows to embrace an even bigger mission: an ominous, invisible war between the world A.C. inhabits and the one that bore him. The film opens a few years after the escape. Atlanna and her son drive a plane over the Bermuda Triangle when suddenly-appearing cyclones bring it down. Atlanna is abducted by Siren. Orin is left behind with the necklace of his mother and confused memories. A decade later, Orin goes by "Arthur Curry" and barely remembers his mother. He likes diving undersea and feels dolphins are calling to him. In rapid order Arthur discovers his ability to breath underwater, his Atlantean heritage and Siren who came back to finish the job.
The pilot was not broacast in television as originally intended. Instead it was released on the iTunes Store. It became the first show available on iTunes which had not previously aired on a network and soon became a hit.In 2007 it was both released on DVD and received its first television broadcast at YTV, a Canadian television network.
