Who is Batman's most powerful enemy?

Personally, I think it'd either be Mr. Freeze or Bane.

That's a pretty tough question, but I would have to say Darkseid. He's never really defeated him only had stalemates. Batman convinced Darkseid to let Kara Zor-El go, but got nearly beat to death doing so. Then there was the time he shot Darkseid with the cosmic bullet only to be shot through the temple with Omega beams. He's never really outright defeated him.

@Delphic: But Darkseid isn't really a Batman villain. I found him more to be a Superman rogue.

Mr. Freeze isn't that powerful, Bats is always beating his ass all the time...

Personally, I'd say his most powerful enemies are Bane, Ra's Al Ghul, Clayface, and Killer Croc.

True, but he still is an enemy of Batman. Now out of the Batman's Rogues Gallery, which is probably what you initially meant, I would say (in terms of raw strength) Bane because he did put Batman out of commission for a long while by breaking his back.

@Gambit1024: He did send him back in time and make everyone think he was dead...

I think that means he's a batman villain as well.

    2nd would probably be Bane.

Where are people getting Freeze from? Was he really badass in the DCNU or something because I can't think of a time he was a major threat to Batman.

If we mean power as in power over Batman, I guess I'd have to go with Joker. He's the only one who consistently keeps Batman on his toes.

He rarely has effective counter against Poison Ivy. I guess it's either Poison Ivy or the Joker. Joker loves to push Batman's button.

    1. Clayface: Extremely durable, has gone toe to toe against Wonder Woman,GeoForce, Metamorpho and Superman can take any shape, survive most any atmosphere or environment. 2. Mr. Freeze: The new 52 Freeze is tough, can freeze you with his touch, and has a gun that can freeze entire neighborhoods, cop swat teams and several other things.

Ra's or Bane. If we're referring to sheer strength then it's definitely Bane (or possibly Grundy). Ra's is very similar to Batman in terms of intelligence, stamina and power.

Shocked by how many people are saying Freeze. He's awesome and powerful, but lets not forget that Batman took him out with a few punches, heated brass knuckles, and a little psychology.

My vote goes to Bane. I would've loved to say Hush, but it comes down to it, Bane is Batman's most powerful adversary in all forms.

I'd say Clayface, Mr Freeze or Bane. The Court of Owls are probably the most powerful organisation Batman has faced. I wouldn't want to go up against a secret crime organisation with a legion of undead assassins.

"powerful" is a huge term of this discussion. Batman is powerful so his enemies as an outcome are powerful too. But sticking to your question, you said the "most powerful" enemy but I will answer it as the most challenging enemy in no particular order

•Bane : A nice match for the bat physically but not that match mentally, at least in pre-52. In new-52 he got a mental boast but not that much.

•Ra's al Ghul : A better match Than bane in both mentally and physically but he's age gives him a greater edge but as I recall he got physiological problems after using the Lazuras pit.

    • Prometheus: yet a greater opponent who matches batman mentally but lacks the physical traits bats has. Luckily he got that helmet which boasts his both mental and physical traits.

    • Deathstroke: The greatest match I can think about ( maybe I'm little biased because of my picture but I did a poll about the same topic ). The villain with his own rouge gallery, who is lately became one of favourite and top DC villain. Slade even fought a against batman in both comics and media showing his capabilities.

Definitely Clayface. Batman now has to use laser cages and other kinds of special tech to contain him. Even post-crisis Clayface was powerful enough to slug it out with the likes of Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Power Girl.

On the other hand, his most formidable enemy is either The Joker or Ra's Al Ghul without question.
