Origin: In his mid-twenties, Joel was involved in a car accident which nearly claimed his life. At the very moment of impact with the guard rail, his Deviation Gene activated and he instantly transformed into Brickhouse, saving him. Now knowing he was a Deviation, he set forth to Las Vegas to become a high-stakes gambler with little fear of reprisal for his successes from the mob. Having been accused of card-counting at the casino owned by Don Carlo DeStefanis, he transformed into Brickhouse to defuse the situation. Don Carlo saw this on his monitors and invited Brickhouse to his office, where he offered Brickhouse a job on his security team. Brickhouse was also recruited by Psionica to be on the super-team called Trident’s New Alliance.
