Lets go!!
Baldur's Gate 3 wins Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023
I feel like that Blade game might suck. I mean, it's from the same studio that made Redfall(Which makes it even more ironic for them to be doing another vampire game).
@andromeda1001: @mike_fowler: I liked Dishonored, haven't played Prey, Redfall nor Death Loop. Can't comment on their overall quality.

I didn't like Prey. Never got into Dishonored, though. Not saying the studio itself is bad, but Redfall sucked really hard and now they're doing another game in a similar genre. Maybe they learned from their mistakes, I don't know, but I can't help but fear it might be another flop.
EDIT: It seems they were one of the studios that worked on Wolfenstein: Youngblood as well, which I found terrible.

Redfall was one of the worst games of 2023. I'd say it's up there with Gollum and King Kong.
@andromeda1001: Wait!! There was both a Gollum game AND a King Kong game?? Man, they're undoing the reputation of both characters who Andy Serkis helped build lol
@ghostodoofus2: Yes. And they were terrible, lol.
That Light No Fire game seems interesting. I just hope it doesn't come out as broken as No Man's Sky.
@andromeda1001: It looks ok to me lol
Stormgate looks like Overwatch.

Well, I think it seems like a cool game to play with people.
@andromeda1001: Holy crap, Baldur's Gate 3 is sweeping!!
@ghostodoofus2: I'd say it's well deserved.
@andromeda1001: I believe so, heard nothing but good about it.
@andromeda1001: Was there any doubt? I'm just bummed RE4 didn't win anything though...
@ghostodoofus2: I just wonder why Hogwarts Legacy wasn't nominated for any category.
@andromeda1001: Likely because they're still not over JK Rowling's comments about trans people from years ago. Honestly, I still don't get why she got so much hate, she's supportive of trans people but still believes that they should be kept out of women's bathrooms and women's sports. Is that what she said? I don't remember but that's all I got out of what she implied.
I agreed with every award, all well deserved.
Only complaints are performance (Ben or Yuri imo should have won) and accessibility (Forza won when SF6 and SM2 offered way more)
@scarlet_death: I don't get the joke, kept hearing it but don't have the context. Care to explain?
@ghostodoofus2: Check this out.

Lol ok

Not same studio exactly. its the American branch that made that nonsense

To be fair, vampire setting was not what made Redfall terrible. Everything else was.

Redfall was the first serious flop in Arcane history. They make games in a pretty niche genre (first person immersive sim), and they are pretty good at it. Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah, Dishonored series have their fans and considered cult classics in certain circles. Haven't played Prey and Deathloop, but from the looks of it most people who did also like them. It might be a case of poor resource, people and time management that caused Redfall disaster, or it might be a sign that the studio is going downhill. I'd say we should wait and see how their Blade turns out, and from there it'll be more clear what's going on with them.

What was wrong with Prey and Wolfenstein? Prey was a fantastic game with amazing art style, atmosphere, and creative gameplay mechanics, smh. Their best game even more so than Dishonored, IMO.
I do admit that their last couple of games have been meh to trash, but from what I understand in the case of Redfall, the devs didn't even want to work on the game and were forced to work on it which is reflected in the quality of the game itself. If they bring their A game and adapt a lot of the Dishonored's gameplay, which would fit perfect for a Blade game, it could turn out great.

Besides possible political reasons like ghostdoofus mentioned, even though I enjoyed the game myself, it didn't really excel in any one category to be worth nominating, imo. Maybe Best Action/Adventure if anything.

Again, I haven't played some of those, but the ones I did were quite meh. Another thing that gets me a bit worried is the art style of the game. It seems quite cartoonish, which I'm not sure if is a good idea for a game featuring Blade. As I said to the user above, I don't think Arcane is a bad studio, but their latest releases sort of make me worry that Blade could suck it as well, if developed under the same conditions, of course.

I found Prey boring, and Wolfenstein extremely cringe(The graphics were nice, though).
That's what got me worried, really. If something similar happens with Blade.
Prey was so good. What awful taste you have, smh.
Admittedly, I haven't played Youngblood, but I played the main installments. I figured it was just as good as them since it's basically the same gameplay. What was cringe, did the story suck or something?

Nah, lol.
All the previous Wolfensteins are good, yea, but Youngblood had terrible protagonists. They were extremely annoying, and I particularly didn't like the story that much either.
Haven’t played BG3 but seems deserved given all the praise I’ve seen.
Arcane making a blade game is dope. They’ve had a few stinkers recently like Redfall but it came across like rushed cash grab forced by the publisher as opposed to a game the developers actually wanted to make.
Dishonored is a goated franchise so anything along those lines is a win imo.
@andromeda1001:
Is too. You probably rage quit after getting stuck or something, heh.
I can absolutely see that then. Glad it was the one game in the new series I didn't play then lol.
@thedailybagel: Not the least bit surprised that Baldur's Gate 3 won GOTY, still wish that Spider-Man 2 or Resident Evil 4 had won at least one award.
Tears of The Kingdom deserved more Game Of year title just because of these scenes;
C'moon what can be more iconic than torturing koroks 🤣

What type of game is BG3 ? Is that fantasy adventure game or platform game ?
@ieatnettles: Yeah, well looks can be deceiving.
@ieatnettles: Yeah, well looks can be deceiving.
I've seen vids of it, I feel like gow should have won
Tbf I don't have an accurate measure of how good it is and last year they gave it to elden ring, which is very well deserved so they might be right
@ieatnettles: What makes you think GoW should have won? That last year, man.
