Poll Do you think Superman's story would be far more interesting if he had some of Omniman's backstory? (21 votes)

Yes 10%
No 90%

So this is just an idea of some possible changes to Superman's origin story, that could make for a more interesting character. So let start from beginning, what if Krypton was not destroyed, but instead Superman's people were much like the Vultrimites, that conquered other planets and incorporated them into their empire. We can even say that Krptonians did this through a combination of their natural abilities under a yellow sun, as well as, their advance tech.

Just like on Invincible, a Kryptonian realized how barbaric the empire was, and decided to rebel. We could say that Jor-El and Lara-El were such Kryptonians, and realizing they could not escape the empire, secretly constructed a rocket to help their son escape. We can even take inspiration from Man of Steel, and show them being found out by Zod, who kills Clark's parent, but is too late to stop the rocket from escaping the planet. And without knowing the trajectory or final destination, is unable to find him, and doesn't bother looking.

Clark crash lands in Smallville, Kansas, and is raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent. His development and time on earth follows much the same as in the original timeline.

Clark grows up and eventually finds out about his Kryptonian heritage. But, his father wanting him to avoid being entangled with the Kyrptonian empire, lies to him about his people being destroyed from the planet exploding.

Clark's uncle, Zor-El, eventually figures out where Clark's rocket had landed, and sends his daughter, Kara-Zor-El, to bring him back to the empire. A bloody battle ensues on Earth, where Clark fights his cousin, and finds out that he is not the last son of Krypton. He finds out from her, that years of conquest had resulted in Krypton's enemies decimating their population through biological warfare, and they are now reduced to a few 100. Clark is shaken by this information, but hold his resolve and he defeats his cousin, and eventually imprisons her. Clark then spends many months trying to convince his cousin that there is more to life than conquest, strength and glory. But she resists him, and calls him a traitor for turning is back on his own people.

We can then have a fight set up between Clark an Zod by utilizing, the growth codex plot from Man of Steele. We can state that Lara and Zor-El being worried about their daughter's long departure to Earth, became worried that she was captured or possibility killed. They inform Zod of Clark's presence on Earth, as well as, dispatching their daughter to the planet to retrieve their nephew. They also manipulate Zod by informing him about the growth codex on Clark's ship, that has the potential to repopulate their race. Zod hearing this sets out conquest for Earth and retrieval of the codex.

Zod's forces are met with resistance by the Justice League, the military and other Earth base heroes. Amoral decisions are made by Zod during the conflict for the sake of victory. These decisions eventually result in the loss of many Kryptonians, include Supergirl's parents, which results in a large % of Kryptonian switching sides and fighting on behalf of Earth.

When the war ends, Zod and those extremely loyal to him are imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. The remaining Kryptonians that helped save Earth are given the option to leave or stay. Some choose to stay on Earth, assimilate among the humans and live out life as normal people. Others decide to become heroes in their own rights. While some choose to take to the stars and make amends for what they've done during their years of conquest.

Technically, we had the story about Superman who landed on Apocalypse and was raised as the champion of Darkseid.

Actually, "Batman: Fortress", is more accurate to the storyline of what's presented in my initial post. The story I'm presenting is not a superman that is evil warlord. It's one in which he find out about his people being murderous conquerors that are still very much alive and kicking in the Universe.

In Batman: Fortress, 3 alien bounty hunters come to Earth seeking out superman. They initially cause a world wide blackout, which prompted the military and the justice league to respond. This resulted in a lot of people dying, including several league members. Superman was not present in this fight, but instead had gone MIA, having taken the Fortress of Solitude and moved it to the deepest parts of the Ocean Floor. Batman knowing the aliens are looking for Superman sought out Lex Luthor for help in reaching the Fortress. Once, they arrive at the fortress, Superman reveals that the reason for his disappearance was due to him finding out his people were war mongering conquers. Krypton's destruction was an act of retaliation from Krypton's enemies for all the crime and atrocities they had committed.

The 3 aliens then appear at the fortress and tells superman that they came from an alien world that was attacked by his people. They claim they were brought to earth, so superman can stand trial for the sins of his people. Superman feeling guilt ridden feels compelled to go with them. But before leaving, he transfers his powers to Batman, so that Earth will always have a Superman to protect it in any future conflicts. Superman goes to trial, but thanks to the good character testimony from his close friends and allies, he is spared from being executed. He eventually returns to Earth, where the remaining league members pay their respects to the fallen members of the Justice League.

Batman and Superman are then seen walking in the field outside Wayne's manor. Batman and Superman share some words about the responsibility and burden of being Superman, and how Superman will cope being just a normal guy from now on. In the final closing image of the comic, we see Batman looking down on the Earth in space, watching superman enjoying life as a normal man, with his wife Lois, and dog in a park.

lmao brutal comments up there simply saying “no”.

I will agree. I don’t like this storyline for Superman. Not saying you did a bad job but to me Superman being the last son and a symbol for his people and ours is what makes him great. He doesn’t always have to be evil or gritty or dark.
