@03s7: I could be wrong but I think its sort of like a plot weapon which is empowered by Roma who is said to be the guardian of the omniverse. If you're going for a list of most powerful swords you could also add all black the necrosword.

The Blade of Olypmus also seems pretty powerful. It can literally steal and absorb energy from its foes, even Gods and Titans.

Yamato Vergil's weapon from Devil May Cry it can cut dimensions and be used long ranged with almost instantaneous slashes.

@03s7: Just to clarify, the Vorpal Sword that I mentioned is the one from Fables/Vertigo comics.

It's not as flashy nor does it have as wide an effect as some of the other swords, but it's more of a one-shot kill type of blade. The slightest cut severs anything all the way through and it always kills with one strike. It was only ever stopped by layer upon layer of powerful protective spells and enchantments placed by an army of sorcerers over the span of several centuries.

Frostmourne possesses the souls of all of its victims, as well as the will of the Lich king. Arthas became the most powerful undead warrior in Azeroth just by touching it.

He didn't become undead when he touched it. It was just a sword that amped him to some degree. He didn't become the undead LK until he merged with Nerzhul's armor and soul.

Lady Death has a freakishly powerful sword, that was called Apocalypse, and has sense been re-named Choas I do believe. Coffin Comics, originally Chaos comics hence the name change, I believe it's supposed to be an homage.

Where's Sword of Totsuka, Kyoka Suigetsu or Zanka no Tachi?

The potential of the sword loli from ATG gets my vote.

So technically, the sword on it's own isn't powerful but it was made to channel the Power of Infinity. Victory possessed half the Power of Infinity when she used the Stellar Death Attack, which defeated the evil K'athanoa, who was said to have exceeded the Power of Infinity. Take it as you will.

@spambot: Arthas was made a death knight as soon as he wielded the sword, far before he merged with Ner'Zhul. There are no living Death Knights under the Lich King. Arthas physically became extremely pale and gained Death powers, including the power to reenergize by consuming the dead. Furthermore, there were multiple quests during WCIII where magical barriers were erected that the dead could not pass, including Arthas himself. Your character took damage if he passed these barriers. But the humans moved freely throughout. Dalaran immediately comes to mind.

What proof do you have that this was all wrong and he was alive the whole time?

@havenless: Maybe I am remembering it wrong then but I don't recall him becoming undead as soon as he touched the sword. I played the wc3 campaign as well but its been like 12 years so I don't have perfect memory of it all.

edit: I looked up a video from the human campaign and he did still have his paladin powers after he took up the sword and killed Mal'Ganis but then it says he went and wandered in the frozen waste and then the next time we see him is when he kills his father at which time he prob was fully undead.
