One problem I have with this story (among others) is the fact that Captain Marvel's stance hasn't been one that people would actually root for. Just judging off this preview alone it seems that they are only making Carol's stance seem more and more unlikable. How can any of these characters, or even readers, want to choose her side which completely takes away from the whole "divided" aspect of the story?
She's in Tony's shoes from the last Civil War: Ostensibly, there are positives to her stance. The implementation however, is done with a hardline stance that makes the positives minuscule in comparison to the negatives.
Good *lord* Tony's going to be insufferable in Civil War III, after winning this one and the last one.
Are you telling me she is not AWARE of the nature of Fanfiction to the point she would ask the admin to remove fanfiction stories from a FANFIC SITE ? Really ? You expect me to believe she is that dumb ?
I think it's more to do with the fact she doesn't see it as people writing fanfic about Ms. Marvel, but people writing about Kamala Khan making out with her friends and colleagues. It never really occurred to her people might write about her, because deep down, it never really clicked she's a superhero now.
Oh, and I can't imagine being a teenager raised on traditional Muslim values is doing wonders for seeing people writing about her love life.
Y'know, I saw the title, looked at the costume in the thumbnail, and as I clicked on it, genuinely thought, "Huh, I'm surprised they didn't make the new one a woman or another race or some- OH GOD DAMMIT."
And let me be clear: I'm not against a female Electro or anything. Marvel's just doing it to everybody, so I thought this'd break the trend. NOPE.
I hope that thing about magic having dire consequences on the user is also gone. Because, really, if we are going to see Strange throw up every issue then Dr. Doom better have terminal cancer for all the unholy magic he does.
I'm going to guess if they stick with the whole 'magic having consequences' thing, the explanation for Doctor Doom being free to do whatever is he doesn't care about what it takes to fulfill his end of the bargain. To use an example given by this series: You want to save a life, you need to take one to balance it out.
Strange doesn't want to sacrifice anything or anyone but himself, so his debt piles up in spite of all his suffering. Doom'd just be all, "Take comfort in the knowledge you are dying for someone greater than yourself." And pop their heads clean off their shoulders. Debt settled. Even if we don't see him settle accounts, he's probably unleashing literal hell on all kinds of dimensions to pay off his debt before it costs him.
