@d1vine_: How does "being faster than the speed of sound" means you're exactly supersonic? Netero being faster than sound does not contradict the already faster than sound speed feats in the series when he believes other Nen Users can rival his weakened state or reach levels to what he was a long time ago. Lightning is faster than sound, light is faster than sound, bullets, etc. Not to mention, this Netero surpassing the speed of sound was a relatively weak one and nowhere near his prime as the statements further state "a monster was born"

I mean, it literally doesn't make sense. Togashi draws characters reacting to bullets on a consistent scale and even visibly draws one breaking the sound barrier with the likes of killua being stated to react to it with "Pure reflexes" Togashi wasn't intending the speed of sound to be the verses upperlimits and if he was...he did a very bad job at it even though I don't think that's the case. Hell even before all of that, he referenced Phantom Troupe members being able to move fast enough to block Uvo's sound waves from reaching them without knowledge.

@d1vine_: Netero's punch was never stated to be supersonic, just faster than sound. That's it. Bullets are faster than sound. Light is faster than sound. It's vague statement. So to find Netero's real speed, we scale.

@pics: for the most part one wouldn't think concrete statements entail greater value. when cell said he would destroy the solar system, most people wouldn't try to raise that feat any higher. you're mainly right for everything, I just think that Togashi doesn't have a good baseline for speed in the series.

When there is only one statement about Netero's speed saying he's faster than the speed of sound, that doesn't mean we assume he's anywhere near LS (which is millions of times faster). Especially when he is hyped as one of the strongest in the series, if he was significantly faster than sound then Togashi would have stated so, otherwise we infer he is slightly above the speed of sound.

Killua or anyone in HxH for that matter obviously isn't LS but saying Netero is only slightly above the speed of sound is really underselling it.

Didn't Bonelev brag about being faster then sound so he is a good starting point for scaling

Killua in the very beginning of the series is FTE while he can remain undetected.

Gon in Heavens Arena Arc can create afterimages with his dashes.

Uvogin can catch bullets with his teeth in a point black which makes him hypersonic+ in reactions.

Pitou jumped in hypersonic+ twice.

There's no way HxH caps at supersonic, while Adult Gon and Meruem scales to be way much higher than the characters with hypersonic+ feats.

@harumi2zoldyck: narration for neteros punch is clearly a metaphor. Meruem was stated to be omnipotent iirc but he clearly isn't.

if we use him to scale then you would need to be supersonic to evade PT which i'm sure most people wouldn't buy. This, some statements for cheetu and netero are the reasons why I think Togashi has a terrible baseline for speed in the series.

I don’t know what you would find in the middle of the scan since the middle is just the nen chart/dialogue about the end of the chimera ant arc, but do what you will.

Netero's zero hand was said to be lightspeed.

Even Meruem's aura alone was stated to be lightspeed.

It wouldn't be a stretch to say that there are multiple LS characters in HXH.

killua has SOL speed in his godspeed form

it's been stated many times in the show

and killua can turn himself into electricity which travels at relativistic+ speeds

and he doesn't have FTL speed, no only netero and mereum do

he has SOL speed

Supersonic reaction speed. Sub sonic travel speed.

HxH is relatively more grounded compare to other shounen like Naruto, the characters just aren't that powerful.

If Killua is LS then Thor is immeasurable
