A long-lived mutant with the rage of a beast and the soul of a Samurai, James "Logan" Howlett's past is filled with blood, war, and betrayal. Possessing an accelerated healing factor, enhanced senses, and bone claws in his hands that, along with his skeleton, are coated in adamantium, Wolverine is the ultimate weapon.

  • Aarkus was once the Golden Age villain-turned-hero called The Vision, whose people came to our reality to serve as midwives to beings born from Cosmic Cubes.

  • Abdul Alhazred - possibly in a host body - sought control of the Madripoor criminal empire of Tyger Tiger, so he could overthrow Prince Baran and gain a new power base. Alhazred sent agents to kidnap Tiger and Archie Corrigan, but the thugs argued, causing them to crash their plane in Madripoor's jungles. There, Wolverine defeated them and rescued the pair. The X-Man said he was not familiar with Alhazred and respected his power. Later, Alhazred himself attacked and beat Wolverine, then successfully kidnapped Tiger and Corrigan. When Wolverine arrives to free his allies, Alhazred unleased his demons, hoping to send Wolverine into a rage, which Alhazred could use to control the mutant. Logan resisted by maintaining control of himself and caused the psychic backlash to banish Alhazred to the extradimensional demon realm.

  • Craving for the power of a Hulk, Emil Blonsky purposely had himself infected with triple the amount of gamma that the Hulk originally had. However, it turned him into a monstrous amphibious reptoid as being originally more than twice the strength of the normal calm Hulk, at the cost of never being human again.

  • Doctor Cornelius for the most part was blackmailed into joining the Weapon X Program. He was a fugitive on the run from the United States known as the "Mercy Killer" quack.

  • Wolverine cut off Creel's (in stone form) arm during the first Secret Wars.

  • Arclight battled against Wolverine during the Mutant Massacre.

  • The Administrator was the leader of the Watchtower; an anti-mutant faction who conducted medical research on mutants. In the past he hired Deadpool to lead a team to hunt down Wolverine so they could research his healing factor. When Wolverine and Cable's X-Force breached Watchtower's research facility the Administrator strapped on a battle-suit and faced them. He was then killed by Domino (From an alternate future).

  • The man who ruled over Nazi Germany during World War II. He wished to wipe leftists, Jews and other "inferiors" from the planet and rule over the world propagating an Aryan race agenda, an ideal that he oddly did not fall into himself.

  • A and her partner T assisted Mister X's bodyguard Blok in testing Wolverine prior to the feral X-Man's meeting with Mister X.

  • Adversary is an ancient being who comes from a universe of chaos and wishes to bring this chaos to the Earth dimension.

  • Agamotto is one of three vastly powerful benevolent beings who are collectively known as the Vishanti.

  • Agent-X was originally hired by Penner Security Associates before leading the rest of the Next Wave into his own team of freelance mercenaries. He battled Wolverine, Beast and Ghost Rider (Ketch).

  • A geneticist who in a dystopic future was the creator of the Hound program which captured mutants wherein they were processed and used to hunt down their fellow mutants.

  • Alanna is the Shi'ar Majestrix in an alternate reality. She is the daughter of Charles Xavier and Lilandra Neramani.

  • A robotic replica of Wolverine created by Donald Pierce to kill Wolverine. He managed to grow beyond his programming however and became instead somewhat of an ally to him.

  • Aldo Ferro was employed by the Weapon X project to telepathically implant it's members with false memories. Wolverine along with the rest of the the old Weapon X members battled Aldo on his private island resulting in the death of Silver Fox at the hands of Sabretooth which at the time Aldo was mind controlling. Wolverine angry and in turmoil ripped open Sabretooth nearly killing him. Aldo's original body had been damaged in the ensuing battle and was also dying. To save both their lives he chose to merge with Sabretooth, managing to escape from the battle.

  • Amber D'Alexis ran an espionage and weapons smuggling ring out of her casino and was romantically involved with Jake Fury. Nick Fury Jake's brother romanced D'Alexis to gain access to evidence he could use against her. Nick ultimately took D'Alexis into custody, and Jake's hatred towards Nick grew. Amber had a son Mikel Fury who she raised and brainwashed into believing he was the son of Jake fury (the original Scorpio). She then trained him to become the new Scorpio in order to assassinate his real father, Nick Fury. During D'Alexis' last criminal operation, she held Fury at gunpoint and revealed that Nick, not Jake, was Mikel's father, she then tried to destroy both Nick and Mikel with the Cosmic Key (Zodiac Key) only to be slain by Wolverine.

  • Voght, a former nurse and partner to Charles Xavier. She left Xavier after he began forming the X-Men and later joined Magneto's Acolytes.

  • One of Magneto`s mutant creations in The Savage Land. A member of The Savage Land Mutates. Amphibius is a batrachanthrope (Were-Frog) or a human/frog hybrid. He has the leg strength and nautical abilities of a frog.

  • Anaconda battled Wolverine in Cable's South Pacific floating island, Providence. Later she and her teammates (Black Mamba, Bushmaster, Cottonmouth) encountered Wolverine and the New Avengers in a semi-tropical locale.

  • Former terrorist and son of HYDRA's Baron Strucker, Andreas von Strucker abandoned his life of evil following the death of his sister. Choosing to become a better man, he became the superhero Swordsman and joined the Thunderbolts on his quest to be the opposite of everything he'd been before.

  • Andrea and her brother shared the codename Fenris. She was bio-engineered in-utero and must be in contact with her brother to use her powers. Andrea is currently dead.

  • Fabian Cortez's sister and member of the Acolytes. She was wounded when humans invaded Asteroid M and shot her. After that Magneto beacome a leader of Acolytes.

  • Two men have taken the identity of Ape-Man and were members of the Ani-Men.

  • One of the very first mutants, Apocalypse is both thousands of years old and a monstrous tyrant that has been a longtime foe of the X-Men. Apocalypse believes that only the strongest (whether mutant or superhuman) should survive. His body is a mix of organics and powerful celestial technology. He can also adapt to any mutants power and has defeated the Phoenix Force.

  • While based in Australia, a man would ask Wolverine to go to the Savage Land, where he encountered a tribe of humans. Arriving in a lightweight plane, the tribe believed him a god, with the exception of Gahck, the tribe's female chieftain. Gahck challenged Wolverine to combat, and once it was established that he wasn't a god, he offered to help their hunting parties. Logan subsequently started a relationship with Gahck. When members of the tribe were captured, Wolverine discovered that a robotic Tyrannosaurus Rex would attack the tribe and take their members to a secret base. Wolverine discovered that experiments were performed on the tribe members by Apocalypse, and after freeing himself and the captured Gahck, he battled Apocalypse, though it turned out to be a robot. In the Apocalypse robot's lab, Logan learned that Apocalypse was the man who had told him to journey to the Savage Land

  • Arachne is a human woman from Greek mythology who was turned into the first spider after she defeated Athena in a weaving competition.

  • A humanoid alien from an unidentified home planet, Arc is a member of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard.

  • Arcade mutilated his own face during a plot to frame Wolverine in a complex "Jack the Ripper"-like series of murders. His plot was defeated by Wolverine, Gambit, and his former ally Mastermind (Martinique Jason), the daughter of Mastermind, who left Arcade in a state of delusion. Later Arcade and White Rabbit attempted to kill Wolverine and the Black Cat but failed.

  • Extortionist, and former partner of the Kingpin.

  • Aria is an alien, from the Zennan nation. Aria had taken over Wolverine's body, and caused him to wreak havoc in New York City, leading to the involvement of several Avengers and New Warriors. Out of his control, Wolverine had injured both allies and friends.

  • The imperial ruler of the extra-dimensional world of Polemachus.

  • Captain America and his ally Thor tried to infiltrate one of the Red Skull's safehouses, and Zola used Doughboy to try to capture the two. Masterson used his hammer to destroy Doughboy, and Zola escaped. However, Zola re-created Doughboy to be used as his vehicle of transportation when capturing the then-ruler of Madripoor, the Viper, which brought Zola into conflict with Wolverine and Cable. The heroes battled Primus and others of Zola's creation until they were unceremoniously dropped from Doughboy and Zola, the Viper, and his creations escaped.

  • Aryan is the leader of the Skulls which are a white supremacist prison gang inside the Cage which is a facility that incarcerates super criminals. Aryan is a real scumbag and his gang worships the Red Skull like a messiah. Wolverine and Hank McCoy are locked up in the Cage when they are arrested for murdering a state senator. Their powers are nullified in the Cage because of a shield dampener that surrounds the facility. A bounty is placed on both of them and all the criminal factions in the Cage wants their heads. Wolverine, McCoy and Peepers are having lunch in the mess hall when Wolverine receives a note from an anonymous individual. Wolverine looks around the hall to see who dropped off the note and Aryan accuses the mutant of staring him down. Aryan and the Skulls front Wolverine and a fight ensues when Aryan pushes Peeper's face into his food. The fight is broken up by the prison guards and Wolverine is placed into solitary confinement.

  • Ash fought the zombified version of Wolverine

  • Asp, Boomslang, and Puff Adder went to the Savage Land to retrieve a stone idol, but were interrupted by Wolverine and Dazzler (who had been switched into Diamondback's body but was still wearing her own costume). Asp blasted Dazzler, knocking her out, and the trio retrieved the idol, but Wolverine ambushed them and took down Asp.

  • A former member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and Freedom Force. Avalanche has the ability to create vibratory waves that affects inorganic matter. He often uses his power to affect the earth.

  • The X-Men and the Imperial Guard's first encountered occurred when the X-Men were after Lilandra and Eric the Red.

  • Mo Money orders Axe to kill Wolverine.

  • Azuma Gōda, was a former ninja, and leader of a dissident part of The Hand. Using sleeper ninjas that were better trained then the average Hand members, he started a war with the Yakuza clan. Wolverine travelled then to japan to stop the war, and fought Azuma's ninjas and Sabretooth and Mystique who were hired to stop Logan. Meanwhile, Gōda blackmailed the new Silver Samurai and made him betray the Yashida clan. Finally, Wolverine killed every single ninja, and went to murder their leader. Gōda wasn't scared because he was being protected by Sabretooth and Mystique, and his plan of becoming the invisible head of Asia's crime was close to be fullfiled. But Sabretooth betrayed him, and left him without protection, allowing Wolverine to kill him with a Katana in his own building.

  • In the late 20th century, a few fragments of the Gehenna Stone were uncovered and Baal's spirit awakened. As more and more pieces were discovered, Baal recovered enough strength that he was able to take possession of a mortal host and reconstitute his corporeal form. From there, he used his power to create his Baalist followers, pseudo-vampires who lived and died at Baal's command. To achieve his full might however, he needed all of the pieces of the Gehenna Stone. One of the fragments was discovered by the mentally unstable Burt Corrigan, a man who patterned himself after famous heroes of the silver screen. Corrigan found a Gehenna Stone fragment while on an expedition in Egypt. He donated it to the San Francisco museum of antiquities, but upon discovering the gem's true power, decided to finagle his way onto the board of directors so he could steal it. Baal learned that Corrigan possessed the fragment and sent his pseudo-vampires after him. Fortunately for Corrigan, he had help. His brother Archie was present in San Francisco, as well as Archie's friends, "Patch" (aka Wolverine) and Jessica Drew. The Baalists failed to kill Corrigan and Baal had to personally intervene at which point he came into conflict with Wolverine. Wolverine attempted to kill Baal with his claws, but Baal repulsed his efforts with powerful blasts of energy that electrocuted Wolverine. Later Baal encountered Wolverine a second time shortly thereafter.

  • Pirate killed by Wolverine.

  • Barbarus is a quad-armed mutant with super strength and one of The Savage Land Mutates.

  • Former Royal Chief Scientist of Homeworld, Karza used his astonishing technology to overthrow the monarchy of Homeworld and took control of a big part of the Microverse before he was ultimately defeated by the Micronauts.

  • Ever since WWII, Baron Strucker has been causing misery and destruction, first as the Red Skull's second-in-command, later as ruler of the terrorist group HYDRA. It might be due to losing his position as a prince in the Prussian dynasty, or maybe he's just a real jerk. He wants total chaos and anarchy, and absolute control of the world. He also wants Nick Fury dead and all forms of democracy crushed.

  • Barrage is a member of the Dark Riders, and has Inhuman heritage.

  • When Master Mold subsumed Nimrod, the resulting robot was forced into the Siege Perilous by the X-Men. Once, a mysterious man named Bastion saw himself as humanity's last "bastion" of hope, unaware of his identity as a Sentinel.

  • The Battletide is a ghostly being, created from the merged souls of demons slain in battle.

  • Born into an urban squalor, the mutant Beast banded himself together with similar street kids. As urban guerillas, these kids enjoy tagging themselves with the names of the X-Men they idolized. His group is called the Natpuppets. He was stripped from his reality into another reality where he joined the Brotherhood of Mutants lead by a bitter Cyclops and attacked the X-Men.

  • A member of the Hulk Gang who was involved with killing Logan's family. Logan had his revenge by killing Beau by putting a bomb in his mouth.

  • Bedlam was a felon, convicted of murder and placed inside a provincial prison in Nova Scotia. James Hudson of Department H had created a device that could locate the latent powers of individuals that were not fully realized or developed which led him to Bedlam. Hudson had plans to create heroes for Canada and Bedlam agreed to be experimented upon in exchange for a pardon. Hudson had shared his idea to his friend Logan aka Wolverine but wasn't sure if a former felon should be super-powered. The experiment was a success and Bedlam had incredible mind powers but still had the mindset of a criminal. Bedlam came into conflict with Wolverine and Guardian where he was eventually defeated and placed inside a life-support cocoon hidden in a secret lab. Years would pass and one of Hudson's friends named Gary Cody was spying into Department H's files and attempted to repeat Hudson's experiments. Cody had discovered the hidden cocoon and inadvertantly set Bedlam free.

  • Colonel Bel-Dann was assigned by the Supreme Intelligence to observe as Lilandra dealt with the threat of the Dark Phoenix. When Professor X asked for a duel of honor to save the Phoenix, Bel-Dann joined the Skrull representative Raksor in demanding that Lilandra consult with their leaders. The Supreme Intelligence and Empress Rk'lll agreed to the duel of honor, but insisted that Raksor and Bel-Dann monitor the fight, and ensure that the X-Men did not win. Raksor attempted to take Wolverine out of the batle, but was outmatched. Bel-Dann came to his rescue, blasting Wolverine down with his uni-blaster. He gloated to Raksor, saying he needed his protection, and Raksor responded by leaping upon Bel-Dann in an attempt to kill him.

  • Belasco is a Black Sorcerer who once ruled Limbo, the dimension where Illyana Rasputin's mutant teleportation brings her as a halfway point between destinations. He also trained Illyana in the art of black magic, and took her in as his apprentice. She eventually rebelled and defeated him.

  • As a member of the Hysteries, Betty (as the Harpy) turned Hulk Jr. against Wolverine (as the Hooded Man).

  • The Beyonder is an immensely powerful extradimensional entity of disputed origin. Virtually omnipotent in his realm, the Beyonder has striven on occasion to be mankind's both greatest savior and enemy in his quests to understand human nature.

  • The Bi-Beast is comparable to a combination of Bruce Banner and the Hulk together. Super strong, durable, feral, yet has the intellect of Bruce. This makes the Bi-Beast a dangerous foe.

  • Along with his partner in crime Czar, Big Murder is a new villain for Wolverine and Spider-Man.

  • Billy-Bob was out borrowing a Jim Belushi movie from a friend when Logan attacked his family's camp, killing them all. When he returned, he found only Pappy Banner and Little Baby Bruce. Pappy was subsequently gutted from the inside out, and Logan seemed to let Billy-Bob live in exchange for his coat, pants and boots.

  • Two men have taked the identity of Bird-Man and has served as a member of the Ani-Men.

  • Lucas Bishop is a mutant from the 22nd century that traveled into the past, becoming a member of the X-Men, and later, the Uncanny X-Force. He has the power to channel kinetic energy, releasing it generally through beams of energy.

  • The daughter of a shopkeeper, Lin was threatened to be taken to Lo Shang Cho, the Black Dragon, when her father couldn't pay the protection money. Wolverine prevented the taking of Lin, earning him her love and adoration. Wolverine helped unite all of Chinatown's schools, including Tiger school, the One-Armed Swordsmen, the Dim Mak Fighting Academy, the Five Fists of the Iron Monkey, and the (humorously named) Wu-Tang Boxing Society. When Logan refused to take the mantle of Black Dragon after defeating Lo Shang Cho, Lin was forced to take the mantle herself. The city needed a Black Dragon to keep the rival "tongs" in place. Without it she knew that the city would descend into chaos. She swore that she would kill Wolverine if he ever would return to Chinatown.

  • Wolverine helps Domino out when the Assassins Guild is after her for stealing millions of dollars from them. Belladonna makes a call for a number of her specialist including Black Mamba to drop their current assignments and come to New Orleans to take out Domino and Wolverine. During the fight, Black Mamba uses her darkforce abilities and tries to strangle Wolverine as he begins to see visions of his former lover, Mariko. Black Mamba is forced to relinquish her hold on Wolverine when Domino shoots her in the shoulder.

  • He was a mutant with multiple personality disorder who could generate shadowy energy forms. These energy beings were superhumanly strong and durable, could fire energy blast to kill opponents, and turn intangible or solid at will. Each energy form represented one of his personalities. When two shadows fought each other, it could discharge enough energy to destroy a city block.

  • Member of Department-H that was killed by Wolverine when he was guarding the Weapon-X facility.

  • Blackheart is the son of Mephisto, and being so, planned to seize his father's power and succeeded. Blackheart tried to lure Ghost Rider, Punisher, and Wolverine to the town, hoping to recruit them in his war against Mephisto. When they all refuse, Blackheart brainwashes the entire town and kidnaps a young girl all three men had befriended. The group follows Blackheart and the girl back into his own realm and defeats him. As Mephisto forewarned, the usage of his powers in this attempt drives him to madness. He again attempts to commission the services of the three heroes, using them to help him finally destroy Mephisto, and taking over his portion of Hell.

  • During a clash between the Blazing Skull and Wolverine, Logan sliced off the Skull's left arm and leg.

  • A teleporting mutant that was turned into a Brood by Harry Palmer, a human turned Brood, and would come into conflict with the X-Men.

  • A purple-skinned mutant with the power to teleport.

  • Blob being a member of Freedom Force and Brotherhood of Evil Mutants has clashed with the X-Men on numerous occasions. Most noteable battles with the X-Men took place during the Fall of the Mutants storyline.

  • Blockbuster is the super-strong member of the Marauders who has died in battle, yet has returned thanks to Mr. Sinister's cloning techniques.

  • Blok is the Bodyguard of Mister X, He is mute and has Superhuman Strength and was at one time possessed by the Demon spirit Ogun while in the service of Mister X. Blok saved Mister X’s life against Wolverine twice - once by punching Wolverine out as he was about to deal the killing blow in Mister X’s New York headquarters, and once by interposing himself between Wolverine and Mister X during the Madripoor bloodsport championship.

  • Bloodlust joined the Critical Mass' Bad of Baddies together with Whiplash. They have failed in abducting a girl who was unknowingly a mutant. She was assigned to fight Spider-Man and Wolverine until they were unconscious. Though, the two of them have recovered from ther attack. The girl have then defeated all the Baddies after her powers have manifested and blew up the warehouse where they are located with a telekinetic explosion.

  • A long-lived nemesis of Wolverine, Bloodscream is a powerful vampire-like being with a bloodlust and capabilities similar to them, but possesses none of their traditional weaknesses.

  • Mikula is a mutant with telekinetic powers who was a member of the Bogatyri. Mikula and his team would come into conflict with Wolverine and members of the West Coast Avengers. Mikula nearly kills the US Agent with his mutant abilities but he is saved by Wonder Man and the Scarlet Witch. Wolverine and the West Coast Avengers thwart their plans with the assistance of the United States and Canadian military. The current whereabouts of Mikula Golubev are unknown.

  • Creator of the machines that hunt mutants known as the Sentinels.

  • A member of the Reavers who originally served as the team's leader. His lower body is comprised of a heavily armed chassis with tank treads.

  • During the battle against the X-Men, Boomslang went up against Wolverine, who defeated him quite easily.

  • Wolverine and Spider-Man are black ops agents and they come into conflict with Crimson Dynamo and Bora when they try to free a friend from the Russians. Bora is occupied with Spider-Man when Wolverine climbs a tree and stabs her from behind with his claws.

  • Bouncing Betty was part of Lobe's team working into Lobe's society, Sublime Corporation. She participated in the capture of Scalphunter and fought Psylocke, Colossus and Wolverine when they attacked Lobe's base.

  • The Bowman is Hydra's version of Hawkeye.

  • Boyd and Bufford Buzzard knock out a truck driver who was broken down on the side of the road in Canada. Boyd explains to the truck driver how they feed on people and how Americans are his favorite, tasting of cigarettes and syrup. Boyd shoots an intruder and brings him in to be cooked as well. The intruder winds up being Wolverine who cuts off Bufford's hand and escapes with the trucker. The Buzzard Brothers are taken into custody but freed by The Hand.

  • US Army Sergeant married to Kim Voight.

  • When Logan, known as Wolverine, was framed for the murder of Senator Walsh, Nick Furycould not bring him in due to a conflict of interests. Instead Brent Jackson was dispatched to organize the capture. Fury, suspecting Jackson would have Logan killed, hired a bounty hunter named the Shiver Man to capture Logan first. The Shiver Man failed, however, and Jackson managed to trap Logan with the help of a Nick Fury Life Model Decoy. An infuriated Fury decided to send the Shiver Man to monitor Jackson. Jackson was actually working for the Weapon X program under new director Malcolm Colcord. Jackson's job was to retrieve Wolverine and imprison him in The Cage, a high-powered prison. Wolverine would then be handed over to Victor Creed, who was also working for Weapon X. Things however did not work out as they hoped since Wolverine managed to prove his innocence and had agent Jackson's cover blown. Jackson then had to flee SHIELD and started working permanently with the Weapon X program.

  • During the imperfect invasion of New York, Brigade encountered and fought against Wolverine.

  • S.T.R.I.K.E. black ops member.

  • The mother and matriarch of the parasitic aliens known as Brood. More than one Brood Queen can reign at the same time, so long as they are all subservient to the Brood Empress.

  • One half of the Buzzard Brothers. Had his hand cut off by Wolverine.

  • Bullseye was killed by Wolverine in alternate reality. After finally killing him off, Bullseye is revealed to be Jubilee (Mysterio illusion).

  • Bushwacker is a mercenary and assassin with arms that can morph into a variety of projectile weapons. Working for the Marauders, he would kill mutants for money. His activities brought him into routine conflict with Wolverine, Daredevil and the Punisher.

  • One of the original Acolytes, Chrome saved Magneto's life when Asteroid M fell to Earth by using his power of transmuting elements to wrap him in a layer of metal.

  • Chinook was one of the few Golden Age Canadian heroes, who retired after the war. Chinook had retired years before but when an accident with an experimental device known as the Cosmic Ray Collector in Orloo endangered life, he returned to active duty. During his attempt to destroy the device but was instead mutated into an insane monster with incredible power. It was only through the actions of James Hudson, Wolverine and Eugene Judd that he was stopped, sent through the black hole the Collector was creating.

  • Chimera is an inter-dimensional pirate with questionable sanity. She lives to plunder the space-time continuum and travels with plasma wraiths, super-strong half-starved creatures wrapped in black bandages with sharp claws. At one time she was hired by Genesis, Cable's son, in a plot to catch Wolverine and re-bind him with adamantium. However, the plan didn't go too well and feral Wolverine nearly killed all the Dark Riders and injured Chimera, impaling his claws through her hand. Chimera and Dirt Nap were the only survivors of the attack.

  • Calvin Carr, the brother to the original Chemistro, became the third and most well known man to use the Chemistro identity.

  • Charnel is Baron Strucker the fifth merged with the remains of the original Death's Head. He is one of Marvel's deadliest villains, having killed his reality's versions of Dr. Strange, Punisher, Spider-Man, Captain America, Daredevil, and Wolverine, to name just a few.
