The Deadly Duo
Ysolde was born eons ago to two parents who could not have loved her more. Aeric and Eira were two of the Imperial Guard’s best and brightest. They had served at the behest of Odin for as long as any could remember, good and true, held up among even the elite of Asgardian warriors as a deadly dynamic duo, the likes of whose tandem and singular work had never been seen before.
Their daughter grew up underfoot the royals and the guard, drinking in everything that happened, and soaking up knowledge and skills via careful observation. The little girl was different, was other, even then as a child, and it was something that was noticed. She was truly born the legacy of two of Asgard’s best, and it was something that was embodied in her from birth.
Odin was a good and fair king, and inspired loyalty and honor within his guard, qualities that Aeric and Eira exemplified. As such, they were the first two to volunteer as part of an advance raid during one of the tumultuous upstarts of war between the Asgardians and the Dark Elves, their eternal foes.
It was an ambush the likes of which was nearly unprecedented in Asgardian history. The duo believed that they would be scouting out the advance camp of Dark Elves, and instead ran headfirst into what equated to their special forces contingent. The deadliest and most ruthless of their warriors. Even then, Eira and Aeric stood their ground, cleaning house of the squad after things went so far south, utilizing their general Asgardian abilities, their immense combat skill, and the special abilities that each beheld.
Alas, it was not enough. As soon as they believed their battle to be over, a second contingent came, one that had mysteriously remained hidden from all senses up until that point. They stood their ground again, but the odds were insurmountable, and two of Asgard’s finest died with grace, honor and in the name of their duty.
Lonesome Child
Left behind in their wake was their daughter, Ysolde. An Asgardian born of legacy, power, skill and strength, she trusted nobody. It takes a village to raise a child, and many of Asgard’s finest attempted their hand at raising Ysolde, but none of them were her parents, and her obstinate nature refused to allow her to heed anybody else.
She was listless, looking for some purpose, for some destiny, anything that would grant her levity of mind. Anything that would distract her from the hole torn into her chest, and the hollow spot where her heart had once been.
On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, Ysolde slipped past the limits of the Golden City. Heimdall the All-Seeing saw her doing so, and shielded her from detection, intuiting that what this child needed the most was something only she could supply for herself.
The Wilds and the Winter Wolf
Centuries passed as Ysolde crafted a life for herself. That night she had slipped away from the holds of Asgard was the night that she was born anew. Discovered by a wild pack of Dire Wolves, the pack took her in as one of their own, forming a special telepathic and unbreakable bond with the remarkable girl.
That girl grew to be one of Asgard’s most fearsome warriors, but one of their most wild. Nobody had any sustained contact with Ysolde, her name lost in time, fading to become the moniker of the Winter Wolf.
She was a wild warrior, one with no home and no family aside from the dire wolf pack that ran with her, their connection standing the test of time over centuries. There were stories saying that the lost child was more wolf than anything, and in many ways she was.
Aside from her pack, Ysolde was wild. She had one directive, one mission in her life, and that was to eradicate Asgard of the Dark Elves, their most fearsome foes, the secondary objective to keep Asgardians safe and prevent what happened to her parents from reoccurring. It was a burden that she bore alone, and one that others were not entirely aware of.
Over the centuries she had become more and more withdrawn from societal norms and charms, keeping contact with only one or two fellow Asgardians, taking up her mission as her life, and the wolves as her family.
