Beliefs of the Family The Santa Muerte is the most powerful aspect for all those who have been denied justice, who have been left behind by the established system in some way, those who were not born to privilege, those who do not have the benefit of equality under the law, those who have no representation in places of power, those who are oppressed. Santa Muerte is our greatest ally and a source of personal power.
The Zamora Family venerate la Santa Muerte. A long time ago, during the The Mexican War of Independence back in 1810-1821 the Spanish military invaded Mexico City and began killing its citizens when they refused to cooperate with the Spanish military and began destroying the city. It was then that a woman took it upon herself to pray to the La Santa Muerte. Harnessing La Santa Muertes power and its mastery over death, the rebels were then able to push the Spaniards out of Mexico City The people who took up this power were none other than Los Zamoras.
The power from La Santa Muerte have been passed down from generation to generation as tradition and are still worshipers of La Santa Muerte and are aware that if they abuse their powers... it could be taken away.
La Primera Zamora La Primera Zamora: Esperanza The first Zamora to have been granted this ability was none other than Esperanza Zamora at the age of 23, after her husband (Manuel) and son (Arturo) were killed by the Spanish military. It was she who lead the family to seek La Santa Muerte for help and it was she who was first given the power over death. However, this power came not without a price. La Santa Muerte only gave Los Zamoras this power under the condition that Esperanza gave her soul to them. Her soul would be used as a bridge between the world of the dead and the living and it would be her soul that the family would be channeling their power from. She is to help grant a temporary power boost to the Zamora who calls upon her as well as to haunt those who try to escape their duty to the family.
Modern Bruja de Durango
Elisa was born into a long bloodline of witches in Mexico. It is not a secret of the families powers and abilities, though talk about it through the city is kept down to small whispers. The Zamora family is known throughout Mexico City for their abilities in all things Necro Magic, and have a heavy impact upon Mexico City. The family is wealthy in riches for their services in medium, being able to help people speak to their recently deceased loved ones. But those with the deeper pockets have been known to come to the family for the resurrection of a loved one. However the family serves both the rich and poor, adjusting prices accordingly. If someone cannot pay the price in peseos,
Since she was a child Elisa has been dabbling in the arts of Necro and Blood magic, picking up everything she could from her mother, Evarista. She has four other siblings; Rosa Zamora (older), Manuel Zamora (older), Marta Zamora (younger) and Alberto Zamora (younger). While all of Evarista's children were trained in the Necro arts, only herself and Manuel have continued to grow in the art of Necro Magic. Rosa still works within the family business by keeping track of customers and managing finances while Marta who is still in high school helps in mixing the oils and tending to the herbal garden while Alberto makes the incense needed.
Powers/Abilities (In progress) Necro Magic Elisa magical abilities revolve around manipulating the dead, death, the life-force and/or souls for her bidding. She can also use communicate with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily – for the purpose of divination, imparting the means to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge.
Spells Llame al Otro Lado(Call To the Other Side): Able to conjure the souls of the deceased, the souls will come back as a small wisp, depending on how tainted their soul was will determine what color the wisp is. The spell gives voice to wisp in order to learn secrets about the living.
Aliento de vida(Breath of Life): : Elisa is able to resurrect bodies that have been deceased for six months so long the person's soul intact. The longer the body has had time to decompose the harder it will take to bring back to life. With practice, the time frame will extend. The more damage the person's body has taken, the longer it will take to resurrect them. The minimum time frame is thirty minutes. This is in need of a blood sacrifice, the longer a body has been dead for, the larger the sacrifice must be.
Atrapamiento Alma (Soul Entrapment): Elisa can capture the souls of the recently deceased and keep them from moving on. These souls are kept in a vial of Lotus Oil.
Transferencia de Espíritu (Transfer of Spirits): She is able to transfer the souls of the deceased into recently deceased bodies who's souls have recently (within 48 hours) already left their bodies.
Ejército de los Muertos (Army of the dead): Elisa can summon the dead through blood magic. By cutting her hand and pressing it upon the ground, any corpse that is buried underneath the ground she is standing upon will rise up from the ground and do her bidding. This will last for as long as Elisa is awake but takes a large amount of energy to do so. Because she is not resurrecting the soul or restoring the decomposed body it is not the same as if she were to resurrect a single person.
Blood Sorcery Elisa has the inherent power in their blood to manipulate and/or fuel spell-casting.
Spells Objetos perdidos (Lost and Found): Using her blood, Elisa is able to track down family members by dropping a spot of blood upon a map. Wherever the blood drop falls, is where the person will be. Elisa can also track other people by mixing her blood with the blood of a family member of the person they are trying to find.
Sangre Se liga Todo (Blood Binds All): Elisa can bound a person's soul to herself or to an object. This is takes the blood of both Elisa and the person who's soul she is attempting to bind. Sangre Se liga Todo is normally used as a last resort if Elisa's life (or life of others she cares about) are in severe danger. She can either bound a person's soul to her own, so if she dies, they die or bound a person's soul to an object that they value. If a soul is bound to Elisa's for too long, Elisa can still die as a end result, causing both to die.
Llame al primero de Zamora (Call To The First Zamora): When in a desperate time for more power, Elisa can call upon the La Primera Zamora (Esperanza Zamora) to take over her own body and grant her more power. When Esperanza has taken over Elisa, Elisa is unable to die, as her soul is intertwined to Esperanza, who is directly connected to the world of the dead. So long as Esperanza is inside Elisa, she is granted the following abilities:
